Get started with Geometra
Welcome to Geometra! This guide will walk you through everything you need to know to get up and running. From creating your account to starting your first project, we'll take you through it step by step.
Create Account
Get started by creating your Geometra account. You can try Geometra free for 30 days — no credit card required. Already have an account? Log in with your email and password.
Once you're logged in, create your first project by clicking the "Create Project" button. Fill in the project details — don't worry, you can edit everything later. When the project is created it opens automatically. To open an existing project, double-click it or select it and click "Open" or "Open in new tab" in the toolbar.
Upload Drawings
When you open a project, you land in Drive — the place where you upload and manage all your project files. Upload files by dragging and dropping them directly into Geometra, or by clicking the "Upload File" button in the toolbar. Select a file to preview it in Drive. When you're ready to start measuring, click "Open in Estimate".
Scale (2D / PDF)
Before you begin measuring, you must set a scale for the page. You do this by finding a known dimension somewhere on the drawing—for example, by using the scale bar often included on the drawing, or a known measurement such as a door, refrigerator, or freezer.
Click on the yellow ruler icon in the top right corner of the drawing and place two points across the known distance. Then, enter the actual distance in meters in the properties panel on the right. Note: Geometra works exclusively with known distances—scale ratios such as 1:100 are not supported for 2D/PDF drawings.
You can use the snap-on tool to automatically find corners. It works like a magnet and is highly effective, both when setting the scale and when you start measuring. You can also copy the scale from one drawing to another by using Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste.
Choose Tool
Select the tool you want to use — for example, the area tool. Click on each corner of the shape you want to measure, then finish by right-clicking or clicking on the first point inside the dashed box that appears.
